I downloaded the torrent of the ISO file of Linux Mint from their site and burned it as a bootable DVD. After that, I tried to run it but it failed. I, then, checked the content of the CD. What I saw there was a file with the same icon as that of the ISO file that I've downloaded. There were no .exe file or anything else that I usually see on installer CD's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just to answer some things in advance. . . I have configured my boot priority, putting my external drive on top.

Putting your external drive on top? shouldn't your CD/DVD drive be on top since you want to boot from that. Are you positive that you burned the ISO to the disk properly? You have to use a special type of disk burning program to do it. If you don't burn it the right way it won't boot. Oh, and there really isn't any reason for a linux disk to contain .exe since .exe is a Windows file extension

To add to this, what CD Burning program did you use?

Did you transfer the ISO to the disk, or did you actually use the burn the image to disk?

Windows XP Version

Windows Vista Versions

I recommend the above burners as they are light weight and just point and click.

I am using Ulead Burn. Now which is capable of burning bootable disks. There is an area there which states Drag and drop files or folders to burn or something like that so I navigated to the ISO file and put it there. There's also a dropdown box there which has a tool tip that states "Select Bootable Source" I also navigated to the ISO file and put it there.

I've tried to burn another DVD (or at least 4 other DVD) and same results happen. There must be something wrong with my procedure.

Thank you in advance.

I use InfraRecorder to burn .iso images
after you download (3 MB ) and install when you open InfraRecorder all you have to do is
click on Burn Image then click on the file to burn insert a disc and click start.

Yah, It's working now. Haven't installed it though. I am still trying to get a copy of Mandriva and decide which distro to install.

http://www.mandriva.com/en/downloads/one/

Also you may want to take a look at PCLinuxOS

I use PCLinux and like very much - easy to use - very friendly help forum also.

PCLinuxOS = Sweet
Linux Mint is very nice & fast.
Mandriva is nice, but seems a little slow IMHO. I run them all through Virtualbox & the first 2 are faster.
Even though they are all slower in a virtual machine.
