question to tutorial how to make a zip file

when I did as the artical said I got a message that says "for compressed zipped folders to handle zip correctly the application assoceated with them must be compressed zip folder then it said do you want to dsignate compressed zipp folders as the application for handling zip files not sure what this meant I clicked no did I want to answer yes or exactly how do you zip and extract and RAR and compress a new commer just wondering?

yes it was on the tutoral page for beginers the artical was by lawrence abrams july 17 2005 that was the artical I read I did as it stated and then I got the message that I posted sorry didnt answer sooner been gone for a bit thanks for asking maybe you can tell me how to properaly zip and compress or rar and when to use these methods thanks glen1

Your link above is to this very thread. I'm going to guess you mean the one titled: How to create and extract a Zip File in Windows ME/XP/2003 which is here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/extract-zip-files-in-windows-me-xp-2003/

If it isn't that one, the other one is: How to create and extract a ZIP File in Windows 95/98/2000 which is here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/create-and-extract-zip-files-in-windows-95-98-2000/

Those are both dated July 17, 2005 and created by Grinler, just at different times. So it would depend on which OS you are referring to.
