Make sure when you 'forward' to replace the original senders name with who you want to send it to. Otherwise you might be embarrassed by making comments to a post and have it forwarded right back to where it was sent from.

How do I remove someone from my friends list? I have already removed one friend once, and I see that friend is back.

You know, animal, I think I like your avatar because it reminds me of Mehitabel from the Archie and Mehitabel columns by Don Starkweather? I just cannot remember the author's last name. that's the one with the cat and the insect that help the author to write his columns.

You can remove a freind by clicking the remove link under their Personal Photo in their profile, or you can also remove a friend in the My Friends by clicking the small remove friend icon to the left of the name in your friends listing. In Your Controls, To the left, in the Options, find the Edit Personal Portal Information. In the last option you can control how you want friends added, you can choose to allow with or without approval from you. If you choose Enabled- Only allow when I approve them, friends cannot be added without your permission. Another option is to ignore users. To ignore someone just go My Controls, to the left on the Options click Manage ignored users and therein you will find where to add someone to ignore them, if you feel you must.

Hello

Could you please tell me how to read PMs that I have sent and any that I
have received

I have read "How to use and send Personal Messages", (topic 33018) but the
instructions seem to bear no resemblance to what I can find, on the site. In
particular:

1. Where is the "top member bar"? Is it (when in Forums) to the right of
and/or just below the photograph, in the top right corner?

2. I cannot find the "My Controls link" anywhere

3. I cannot find the "Control Panel", much less "Messenger"

4. Where is the "member board"?

Your help would be much appreciated

Our apologies for this. We have recently upgraded the forum software and many of the Orientation articles use terminology from the old format.

The new format uses the pull down that is under the arrow next to your display name in the upper right hand corner. Then scrolling down to messenger. Once you select that it will open up the Private Message panel. From there select compose new. That will open up window to compose your PM.

Hello

Thanks for the info., but I still can’t get it. I spent much time fiddling in the top right corner, before posting

Under the arrow next to my display name is what I call a search box. It is white. At the right hand side of this box is another arrow, which must be what you call a pull down. Clicking on this arrow gives a menu headed “Search Section”, the items in which are Forums, Members, Help Files, Calendar and Blogs. I have tried each of these, but none is relevant. There is no Messenger, to scroll down to

Am I the problem or perhaps it is the damage caused by the malware?

I clicked on my name in the upper right hand corner of the page and the drop down appears. See the image below:

Note the 4th item down that list. That is the messenger system I have been referencing. Does this not happen for you?

The 3 black bordered rectangles you see in the example are Admin tools and I edited those out to avoid confusion. Otherwise that is what you should see. Is that still not the case?

Hello

No. I have done a screenshot, but don't know how to attach it. Anyway, the Messenger line is missing. Clicking my username gives me the same dropdown menu as you pictured, but without Messenger and without the 3 items, which you blocked out

I have checked your set up and when you created your account you disabled the ability to PM. You can reenable it via your profile. Go into My settings, then click notifcation options. The third item down is 'Disable my personal messenger'. Untick that, then at the bottom select save changes.
