Bleeping Computer has a built-in messaging system called personal messages. This messaging system will allow you to send a private message to any other member on this site who is allowing personal messages.
There a few ways to send a personal message depending on where you are on the site. The easiest way, which we will discuss here, is to click on the My Controls link in the top member bar to enter the control panel. Once in the control panel you will see a section in the left navigation area called Messenger. This is your personal messaging area. From here you can send messages, read messages, organize messages in folders, and delete read messages. How to send a personal message To send a message you simply click on the Compose New Message link. When you click on that link you will be presented with a screen similar to the one below: ![]() To send the message you simply fill in the fields as described in the above image and press the Send Message button. How to read a message When you receive a new personal message, you will be notified of that in the member board when you are logged into the forums. Simply enter your control panel and click on the Inbox. You will now see a list of your messages. To the left of the message title you will see two icons which have the following meaning: - This message is unread. - This message has been read.To read a message simply click on the link within the title of the message. How to delete personal messages Each member has a certain amount of storage space allocated towards their total amount of messages. When you reach or exceed that allocated storage space, you will no longer be able to receive any personal messages. All messages in every folder contribute to this used space, including messages in your Sent Items folder. It is therefore important to clean up your folders often by deleting messages. To see an indication of how much space is being used, you can click on a folder and you will see a gauge showing your approximate usage. To delete a personal message you would enter the folder that contains the messages you want to delete and put a checkmark next to these messages. When you are done selecting the messages on that page, scroll down and press the Delete button.
