No Pictures. Only Blank Squares With Red X

while i am on the internet i often get a blank square with a red x in the upper corner where there should be a picture instead. what does this mean and is there a way to fix it?

Sometimes the sites that the pictures are coming from and the rest of the page are coming from are different. Example is banner adds. If you are running something like Spybot S&D 1.4, it well maybe blocking some of the add sites to protect you from spyware. If it was me, I would not unblock them. To see if they are blocked go to Tools>Internet Options>Privacy>Sites and look there. Like I said I would not unblock them.

Additionally, it may help to delete your temporary internet files using the disk cleanup utility.
