I have a Diminsion 8400 running WIN XP SP3. and l'm logged in as administrator. I'm trying to change my Networking properties. I usually go to "My Network Places" then right click on Local Area Connection 3. Which is my only icon under My Network places. I usually click on properties after that however right now its grayed out. The only thing I can do when I right click on Local Area Connection 3 is Status, Repair, Bridge Connections, Create Shortcut.

It does say its connected when I plug the network cable in.

So far I've tried to disable the on board NIC and install a separate one. It does the same thing.

Help Please,

Do you know how I can disable or delete all group or indivdual policies. I don't need them on this PC. I just want things back to default rights.

You might want to ask for Local Admin rights on the PC. Call your service desk. Most of the time these require your Line Managers approval.
