Hi everybody, I hope you are doing well.
Background to what happened:
I caught my son on a P2P the other day downloading music via torrents on the family PC. Since that time I have deleted the torrent program he was using but I have encountered some issues with the PC. At first I could not access anything, I just kept getting failures to run any program. I would just get a popup saying that the program was infected. Along with that I was getting bogus Fraudpack popups non stop. I was eventually (due to my quick fingers) able to run Malwarebytes and there were several infections I found and deleted. I have since run AVG, Spybot and AdAware and deleted everything from there. Unfortunately that was about a week ago since everything started.
Issues I am still encountering:
Ok, So after doing all of that, I am still encountering some issues. They include random tabs opening when I am on my browser (Mozilla), but not for porn or gambling or anything like that which is what confuses me. It almost seems like I have clicked a banner and a Visit Vegas tab opens???? I am also having an issue with dll errors, for instance before I repaired it through the IE Repair option I got a Winsock.dll error where for some reason my Win Sock was broken and I could not access the interent (btw, I have no clue what a Win Sock is, but I am guessing being broken is a bad thing and you need it for internet connections).
I see you guys are amazing here on this forum and am hoping my PC doesn't have an unfixable STD LOL....and for the record, my son is grounded until forever!!!
Thanks ahead of time for looking.
Regards,
Ryan

Ryan,
The winsock issue is an easy fix, although I believe you may be infected due to the random tabs, etc... I would suggest you post in the "Am I Infected" forum, they will take care of you! Good luck!

My mind isn't quite sure what it has bargained for, but my heart is in time with, with the consistency of Your's.

Now that you have posted in the Am I Infected forum, I am closing this post to prevent possible confusion caused by conflicting advice.
