Window 98 Install Problem

I have a computer here that used to ntfs.. or still is.. The drive has been formated and we don't have the original OS. I have acopy of win98SE and want to install it. The problem I have is that win98 doesn't recognize ntfs anf the format on my boot disk is not upported on c:. How can I format this drive back to fat.

The best way I know of is to get an XP disk and begin installation. When it finds the partition on your hard drive, delete it and create a new FAT32 partition, then stop the install. There is a 32 gig limit on FAT32. You can create as many partitions as you need to get them all in FAT32. Here is a link to instructions to do that. Skip the installing part.

You cn download Digital Dolly. It has a full range of disk utilities, including partition managemant. It is similar to Partition Magic but free. It's a great utility at any rate. Good luck.

Is this a 98 boot disk Mortey?
If so at the A prompt type Fdisk go past the section saying you have an NTFS file system and delate all non dos partitions.
Create a new one and then format it by typing format C like so;
>A/ Format C:

I have two. The male, Tom stays so close that when I went into the hospital I had to check out early because he would not eat. I was in for 10 days and he quit eating the second day I was gone. Also have a Yorkie BUT THAT IS
