BleepingComputer.com: New to bleepingcomputer

I'm new to bleepingcompueter but not new to the internet, I got involved back when bulletin boards were pretty much the only way to share information, when the old ARPA net was running. I found this forum because I got infected with some type of search engine / browser redirect virus that I couldn't remove in any of the simple ways. I managed to solve my problem and thought I should hang around now and see if others experience the same thing I did and how the problem gets solved by the pros here. The virus I had was so well writtren I couldn't even see posts on this forum that were more recent than 2008, I couldn't access Microsoft sites and it even would occasionally stop me from using Facebook by throwing in a redirect when I would go from one page back to my own page. I read all the help that was done here but none of it applied to my problem exactly because it was so old and I was blocked from joining or posting.
