RE: Is There A Way to Whitelist Files?
hi eliang,

unfortunately with the home versions for mcafee there is no way to whitelist a file...

You need to upload the file to McAfee from Quarantine. Then if they deem the file safe, they may email you an extra Dat file to cover the FP while you wait for them to fix it in the next signature update. Or if the file was originally flagged by McAfee's Artemis technology, it could be sorted even quicker.

Alternatively, you could restore the file from quarantine, register with Avert Labs, and upload the file there for analysis.

If it is a false positive, then you should also contact and advise the vendor that their program is being detected as a threat. In many cases they will work with the anti-virus techs in an attempt to resolve the detection. Most anti-virus vendors have instructions for file submissions posted on their web sites as RedDawn advised. Once a file is received, a technician can examine it in more detail and provide a report letting you know the results.
