Hi there --
I've been entranced with computers since they became available to the general public in the US. I've had a Sanyo (Windows-wannabee) and then switched to Macs at home. At work, and in various relationships, I've dealt with Windows, all the way from Windows 3.1 thru ME, 95, and now XP. I've also been a devoted PDA user beginning with Apple Newton, Palms, various SmartPhones and now an iPhone 3.
I consider myself a Windows Novice in terms of getting under the hood with anything beyond using applications and application configurations. At work all network administration and antivirus issues are handled by the network administrators. At home, up to now, I've lucked out and just avoided getting in too deep. And while I've been a browser of many computer help forums in the past, I've never registered and posted before. Maybe my handle should have been "forum virigin"
Recently I became the default administrator for my girlfriend's several-years-old HP Pavilion 1310 Desktop running XP. The stakes are high...I don't want to hasten the demise of her venerable and trusted old desktop...and somehow manhood and computer admin skills are intertwined in this culture! HELP HELP
Anyway, I look forward to getting some help and company here. (And maybe be able to help in return sometime) What I have learned about computer forums is that members are extremely generous with their time and assistance.
Phil
