BleepingComputer.com: Brand New Computer Build, no video output

Can someone help me with this, I just put together my new computer and when I go to power on I get 1 long and 3 short beeps.

The system:

Motherboard: ASUS P7H55-M Pro Motherboard
RAM: Corsair XMS3 TW3X4G1333C9AG 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 RAM
Power Supply: DiabloTek PHD550 550-Watt Power Supply
CPU: Intel Core i5 750 BX80605I5750 Processor
2x DVD-RW: Sony AD-7240S-0B Optiarc DVDRW Drive
all in this case: XION AXP Gaming Series AXP600 Classic Mid-Tower Case

Couple questions, what is the 8 pin connector on the MoBo, also has a cap over 4 of them, but if I take it out there are 8 pins.

When I don't have that plugged in, than I don't get beep codes, but I still don't get video output.

Any ideas? Something I put together that wasn't compatible?

Your PSU has an 8 pin EPS connector for that motherboard, use it.

If you have beep codes, then you can use your manual to look up the codes to diag the problem.

It could be memory problems, incorrect CPU setup, No fan RPM signal etc. A beep code will help pinpoint the problem.

What video card? I think there might be a problem if you are relying on "onboard video" with an i5 750.

The manual says that one long beep and three short means no VGA detected, probably due to not enough power. The 8-pin EPS connector should solve your problem.

Well I connected the 8 pin connector, and still same thing. I don't get beep codes now at all. Computer just turns on, but no video. I tried an OLD video card, I can't even find a part on it, I think this is it: MS-V049 ver 1.0

Same issues, no luck with the video output.

Like I said, no beep codes now, what could be causing the problem?

I am using the right 8-pin connector, right? There are 3 of them on the power supply, but two of them are 6-pin with the possible extra 2-pins. Also, the 8-pin connector I put into the motherboard has a 4-pin connector that piggy backs off of it, but there is no where for the 4 pin on the motherboard.

Also, yes I am trying to use the onboard video...

Any other ideas?

EDIT: So this flyer that came with the motherboard has some video card info, but I don't exactly understand it.

How do I know if I have a Clarkdale CPU or Lynnfield CPU?
For H55 it says with Clarkdale that integrated GPU enabled, HDMI/DVI-D-Sub ports enabled
Lynnfield CPU for H55 MoBo states discrete VGA card required.

Ok, so I see I have a Lynnfield CPU. What does discrete VGA card required mean exactly?

It means that you have to have a physical video card. A decent cheap one is the Radeon HD 5450, though for your build I think you should get at least a 5770.

I was able to get my old PCIe card to work for now. I'll buy a decent one soon. thanks for the help, its fixed. problem solved.
