Hello,
I wanted to thank etavares in the forum, "Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs" for helping me with another computer. The problem I have is as I click on Internet Explorer and I'm surfing on the internet. Whenever I'm on a website, if the webpages have pictures, images and videos on them, it doesn't seem to display them. Some examples are youtube, facebook, news websites, any entertainment websites, any of the search engines main websites, virtually any websites that have images, pictures and videos on them. Also, whenever I try to download a program and/or application from the internet, nothing happens, it doesn't want to download them. I was using one of those free registry cleaners that I had downloaded from the internet and I think that I somehow must of accidently deleted some DLL'S and some registry keys that weren't supposed to be deleted. Or maybe it's something else? I have a Compaq Presario 5827 with an Intel Celeron Processor 498 MHZ, 384 MB of Ram with Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack. I wanted to do a re-install of the Windows XP Professional operating system but I can't find the CD. Thank you in advance for your help as I appreciate it very much.
P.S. I have posted another topic in the "Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs" forum because I originally thought that I had some kind of virus and/or rootkit problem.
Thank you,
Chris

I was using one of those free registry cleaners
It, most likely, caused your issues.
Can you borrow Windows CD to run repair installation?
If you back up your data, you can reinstall Windows, using recovery partition (if your computer has one - to check, press F10 at Compaq's logo)

Thank you for your reply. I have lost my Windows CD and I don't know anybody who has one. I checked in the recovery partition, there isn't one.
I have also tried to do a system restore but that doesn't work either. Is there another way? Is there a way of downloading from the internet a Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 Install and/or Repair CD?
Thank you,
Chris

That would be illegal.
You can either borrow Windows CD since you have product key, ot you can call HP and get recovery CD from them. Normally, they'll send you one for shipping costs.

One other thing you can try. Did you uninstall the registry cleaner yet? If not see if it made a backup before you did your cleaning--most of them do. Restore the backup and see if that solves your problem.
Do you want me to close your HJT thread? It's policy here to close log threads when you post about the same problem in more than one forum, but we can also close the log thread and see if we can get this resolved here. Because I don't see any indications of malware in your log, so if we don't have any luck here we can always reopen your log thread and dig deeper.

Hello,
Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic330508.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.
From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.
Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.
Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.
To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
