This self-help guide will walk you through the steps to remove Quickbrowser


What this program does:

Quickbrowser delivers pop up ads to your desktop from top-banners.com. It launches automatically on startup so will deliver popups regardless of whether or not you have a web browser open. Strings inside the file suggests it autoupdates itself and could possible download other software.

You will also see a small green globe on your taskbar. If you click on it you will see a screen similar to the figure below:

Symptoms in a HijackThis Log:


O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QBRSR] C:\WINDOWS\QuickBrowser.exe


Note:
If you have this program installed on your computer there is a good chance of other unwanted programs being installed as well.



Instructions:

Remove this program through the provided Add/Remove Programs entry. To uninstall it follow these steps:
  1. Download HijackThis from the above link and extract it to c:\hijackthis.
  2. Navigate to the c:\hijackthis directory and double-click on HijackThis
  3. When the program starts, double-click on the HijackThis icon and then click on the Scan button.
    1. Put a checkmark next to the entry labeled: O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QBRSR] C:\WINDOWS\QuickBrowser.exe
    2. Then click the Fix button
  4. Close HijackThis.
  5. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode
  6. Delete the following directory: C:\Windows\QuickBrowser.exe
  7. Reboot your computer and let it boot normally.


Your computer should now be clean of the QuickBrowser variant.
