This is a IBM laptop. Intel, 1.5 gb of RAM, 150 gb hard-drive with X.P.

Problems:
It has a boot error. Once it shows the X.P_logo it goes into a dark screen with nothing on it!

I go to safe mode and Safe mode works fine.

I installed my xp cd to boot of it and it shows the black screen as well. (want to go into repair console)

What can be the issue? I went into BIOS with out luck...

Please give me some suggestions,

Thank-you

Are you saying that you changed the boot options...yet you cannot boot from the optical drive?

Is the XP CD a MS Genuine XP CD...or is it an IBM-prepared CD?

Its a Genuine X.P. CD.

When I boot from the Cd it says..

Press any key to continue...

and then normally there is a blue screen that loads all the drivers, but in this case after i press the key its just a black screen.

However the only time it works is when I boot into safe mode in the hard-drive.

Thanks

<<However the only time it works is when I boot into safe mode in the hard-drive.>>

So you can boot into safe mode, but not normally into XP?

Did you take a look in Event Viewer...while in safe mode...for possible clues?

As for the XP disc, did you try cleaning it?

Louis

""So you can boot into safe mode, but not normally into XP?" Yes.

It is the weirdest thing. I let it boot into Xp like it should. Logo appears and then I let it sit....All there is-a black screen. :flowers:

When I boot into safe mode it goes ALL the way into windows...

I will clean the XP cd to see if it helps.

How do I go into Event Viewer is that in the task manager??

Thanks Louis

Okay

Me-50 wins Computer-00

I fixed it thanks louis :flowers:

After being pointed into the right direction, I knew what was wrong with these error codes. I did my research and modified the Regestry as it was affecting the inital boot in normal mode only, but not in safe mode

So I got to the bottom of this thanks for your help :trumpet:
