This self-help guide will walk you through the steps to remove TV Media


What this program does:

TV Media is a suspected downloader of unwanted programs and ad delivery program. Their license agreement denotes that this is the case. It is often found with WinTools and other software. Therefore there may be other unwanted software that needs to be removed. It is also known to block the installation of XP Service Pack 2

Microsoft TV Media Removal Tool

Symptoms in a HijackThis Log:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\PROGRAM FILES\TV MEDIA\Tvm.exe
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {20EC3D2D-33C1-4C9D-BC37-C2D500688DA2} - C:\Program Files\TV Media\TvmBho.dll

Note: TV Media is sometimes installed into c:\TV Media\ as well.



Instructions:

Remove this program through the provided Add/Remove Programs entry. To uninstall it follow these steps:
  1. Enter the control panel.
  2. Double-click on the Add/Remove Programs link.
  3. Look for the entry for TV Media or TV Media Display.
  4. Reboot your computer
  5. Download HijackThis and extract it to c:\hijackthis.
  6. Navigate to the c:\hijackthis directory and double-click on HijackThis
  7. When the program starts, double-click on the HijackThis icon and then click on the Scan button.
    1. If you see a O4 entry for TV Media put a checkmark next to that entry.
    2. Then click the Fix button
  8. If there were no matching entries, or you are finished, close HijackThis.
  9. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode
  10. Delete the following directory: C:\Program Files\TV Media\ or c:\TV Media (whichever exists).
  11. Reboot your computer and let it boot normally.


Your computer should now be clean of the Syncroad program.
