memory slot problems notebooks memory slot not working

Sorry by my broken English.I wanted to add to my Packard bell notebook more memory,but one of the slots not working.What i can to do?Any ideas/

Are you sure the slot is not working? you can test this by taking the existing memory module in your computer and putting it in the second slot, if it works, then you have purchased the wrong memory for your computer. If it doesnt work, then chances are the slot is bad, and if its a notebook, there is little to nothing you can do, short of replacing the motherboard, and you would have to find a used one made exactly for that laptop, otherwise it will not work. You would be better off buying a single larger chip, or a new notebook. What is the model number of the notebook, perhaps we can find a larger memory module that will work to upgrade it.

Thank you for answer.I tried every way and i think as well that there is problem with motherboard.Notebook not very young anymore with integrated videocard.Better to buy new.Different problems already long time.
