i was just wondering if there is a brand that is recommended to use to convert a USB 1.1 to a USB 2 in a laptop?
I notice a lot of no name brands and surfed the net and see that there are brand names and wondered if there was a difference and a reason to purchase to name brand.
At the moment in the retail stores, all PC cards are NO Name brands.
I hope to get comments from users,
Respectful Regards,
My notebook is a Toshiba Satellite 2410, Pent 4, Mobile processor, 1.9 ghz, 512 RAM and I want to hook up a Canon LIDE 80 that has no power connection and a burner.
I look forward to experienced comments!!
Cheers.

According to the Toshiba website - all the Satellite 2410 series laptops had 3 USB 2.0 ports installed on the system.

Are you by chance looking for a powered hub for your laptop? It'd provide power for extra devices and would connect to your current USB ports (I use one for my webcams - got it at BestBuy for $20 - it's a no name brand)

Thx for the reply, I have been given the understanding from Toshiba that the USB ports are 1.1; i tried searching the manual and could not see any specifications and so that is why I posted my query about quality of PC 2.0 conversion cards and brand name versus generic and my problems that I have encountered.
Regards.
