About a month ago, I had to have a new power supply installed. After that, my computer would restart when I ran the shutdown sequence. I've been working around that by disabling the "Automatically Restart" in the Startup and Recovery menu. However, even with this disabled, it is now rebooting on shutdown.
My computer - HP Pavilion 750n desktop with a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4 processor, 768 MB RAM, Windows XP home OS.
If anyone can give any advice, assume I am not too computer savvy. Thanks.

The auto restart feature...may appear to be convenient but it's really a hindrance when a BSOD occurs. It prevents the user from getting the content of the error message which accompanies the BSOD...and causes the system to reboot, rather than display the error message.
In general...every user should uncheck that option.
Shutdown problems abound in all versions of Windows and there's no easy way to troubleshoot them. But I can provide you some links which give hints of where you should start.

I did check out these links, but none of the advice offered in the keeps my computer from rebooting. Also, I don't have any disks since I bought it used. The seller said he didn't have the disks.

When you say "Shutdown Sequence" are you pushing the power button or going to "Start>shutdown>OK" ??
Back up my Hard Drive? It has a reverse?
