Hello and Thank YOU!
A friend of mine had redirect issue with his older PC and I tried to troubleshoot it remotely to no avail. We tried AdAware, SuperAntiSpyware, HitMan Pro 3.5, Malwarebytes, and ComboFix without success. I had him bring the PC over and spent about three hours trying different variations and applications to find the cause of the problem.
Finally, after perusing some of the posts here on bleepingcomputer. I was able to run RKill, TFC and ComboFix in that order and it found the rootkit that had introduced itself through an altered tcpip.sys and I was able to repair and update his system.
