Thanks for the help in advance.

I am working on cleaning up a Dell GX 280, XP SP3. It had several viruses and it now clean. However in the process, I have encountered a problem that I have yet to overcome. Essentially I am unable to reinstall the Broadcomm controller. I have attempted to remove and readd and continue to experience the error message "problem reinstalling the driver".

Event viewer show a series of errors the first of which is a event id 5727 cannot load MRxSMB. Followed by a series of other errors.

I have also run SFC to fix whatever missing files it could.

If I use the System tool under accesories to identify hardware problem it show the Broadcomm ethernet controller with an error code of 39.

Any direction is greatly appreciated

Yes

There seems to be a missing file or one that is corrupt, but SFC did not generate any error messages.

Does the on board nic support PXE Boot, which is used for Network Installs and boot ups?
