Hey guys,
I've always found that my computer is a little slower on the internet than others. I just moved into a new apartment, though, and it's ridiculous.
According to speedtest.net, I'm running 1539ms PING, .08 Mbps DL, and .06 Mbps UL. Might as well go back to 56K, eh?
What's wrong?! I don't want to call Cablevision yet because I'm riding on the tail end of the previous tenant's subscription....
My Specs:
IE7
Dell Inspiron 1420, 3 years old
Vista Home
2GB RAM
Some sort of Intel dual-core, I don't remember
Thanks!

Cable is almost as slow as dial-up My computer or Optimum Online?

Well, what is the rated speed according to Cablevision? The subscription may be for a very slow speed.
It doesn't help that you're running Vista on average specs. I understand you have to work with what you've got, I'm just saying...don't expect awesome performance.
But the extremely slow speedtest.net speeds does seem rather strange, depending on what the rated speed actually is.
