so I turned my computer on this morning and it gave me a fan error and shut off. I turned it back on and it did the same thing. it started up after I hit escape but the fan doesnt work and I dont want it to melt. Is there any way this can be fixed? (its out of warranty so I can open it if need be)

If I'm posting, I probably have something horribly wrong with my computer, there's no obvious explanation for it, that's just the way it is.

The entire fan assembly will probably need to be replaced. Look up the parts list for your computer and see if the fan can be bought seperately. Sometimes in laptops they are sold with the heatsink assembly. Then it just a matter of puuting it in.

well, not exactly sure what tripped it up, but I opened it in hopes that the wire was disconnected, I stripped one of the screws and was unable to remove the system so I just sprayed the fan with a ton of compressed air, turned it on and it doesn't give me a fan error anymore, but the fan is significantly quieter than it used to be. im currently running a prime number generator to benchmark temps, will edit if it breaches 80 C
