Gringo has been helping me with some malware and virus issues, and recommended I start a post here.

He asked me to include this link, http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic317705.html.

Description of my problem: This morning I opened Internet Explorer to read Yahoo news. In the middle of reading an article, the pc powered down and made the same kind of spooling down whirring sound it makes when entering hibernation mode. As this was happening, a blue warning screen flashed up on the monitor, it read as follows:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:
(I did not write down all of the steps, because the screen did not come back after restarting)

At the bottom of the warning screen it read: Technical Information: xxx STOP: 0x000000A (0x9092F6F8, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x80523DBE)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete
Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further assistance

Not sure what this all means or if it is helpful to you at all. I have had no more trouble today other than this. Computer is still slow and still runs fan hard when opening 2 or three programs at a time.

Thanks so much for your help,

Spasticgamer

have you check event viewer for error messages yet?

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

i know that the "beginning physical memory dump" means that your computer is dumping all the stored memory in your RAM to your harddrive, so your computer can recover it on next boot.

0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software. In other words, can be anything . Let's see if we can get more useful clues.

Download/install BlueScreenView, http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html.

Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file.

When scanning is done, Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items. Save the report as BSOD.txt. If the reported date for errors is not in chronological order (most recent at top), then you may want to sort that column to make it so...before saving the file.

Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

By the way,

This whole process started when I was reading the thread :Slow Computer?" at this link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic44690.html

I was unable to get the computer to run in safe mode at all. This was what prompted me to sign up and post my topic.

I really appreciate all of the help.

I don't see anything useful in your BSOD messages...which would tend to make me think of the PSU as a suspect.

You can check the hard drive by checking Event Viewer for any indications of "disk" or "drive" or "IDE" errors noted in 2010.

How To Use Event Viewer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html

IMO, the BSODS which came before 2010...can be disregarded.

I am afraid I do not understand what I am to do next with the info I find.

The application event viewer has 1186 events in the log.

The system event viewer has over 2400. Do you want me to cut and paste both complete lists?

I was having sort of the same problem on a computer I was working on last week. It turned out to be leaky capacitors on the motherboard. Hopefully that is not your problem but you may want to take a quick look and see if any of the capacitors are bulging or have popped their top. I also had one that had bad capacitors in the power supply causing inconsistant voltage which in turn caused B.S.O.D.

Lets start by testing your memory Download Memtest and burn the ISO to a cd/rom reboot the computer making sure it boots off the Cd/rom drive and not the HDD. Let me know what happens.

Edit: forgot link

I am very sorry, but how exactly do I do this?

Do I burn the zip file to the cd, or extract the files and burn those?

Thank you,

You extract the zip file to your desktop then burn the ISO (an ISO is a exact disc image) to a CD so your computer can boot off it. You will need a CD/DVD rom burning Tool such as Nero Burning rom or ISO recorder (A free application to burn ISO CD's).

OK, the zip file will extract an ISO file, and I figured out how to get that onto the cd after I downloaded ISO recorder.

I am unsure how to boot computer off of cd.

Thanks.
