PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

I have a HP pavilion ze4500 when trying to boot up the computer makes it to the HP logo and setup screen. it than goes to a screen Initializing MBA press ctrl +alt+B then goes to the PXE-E61Z: Media Failure, Check Cable. I read somethng about the BIOS. please help

We would love to help, but unless we know what system we are dealing with we can not provide much help to you.

Providing computer make and model # would be helpful so we know what BIOS ROM your system is using.

Also please provide operating system information as well.

it is a HP Pavivilion ZE4500. and the operating system is windows XP

Just happened?
Any recent computer changes? New hardware/programs installed?

Boot to BIOS. Make sure, that the boot order reads: floppy, CD, HD
Disable Boot from Network (wording is different on every machine, may say Integrated NIC, Network, PXE-xxxxxxx)

I have read severl things about the BIOS and what I have seen so far is that the I need to check out the boot up sequience and turn off network booting but I am a little lost with the network booting. Any thoughts :thumbsup:

I have gotten into the boot up and it in this order 1. CD-ROM 2. Removable Devices 3. Hard Drive 4. Built in LAN. There has not been any changed to the computer that i know of. I also do not see anything in regards to
Disable boot form network or anything that you refered to.

I can see it ih the BIOS setup Utility but I do not see anything that would allow me to disable the LAN

I checked out the link that you sent and aside from reseting the hard drive and loosing all the data on there. it points to the BIOS and removing the boot from the network. I am at a loss. Any thoughts?

Tried that. I then tried to start up and encountered the same message. I went back into the BIOS and Built in LAN still exists even after defaults have been reset? :thumbsup:
