I'm using a product made by KINGWIN used for "hotplay" with sata or ata drives. I pulled my WD 750 gig from its housing unit to use as a back up drive. Now when I plug everything in and use the adapters it turns on i can hear it and i plug in the drive to my usb on my laptop and it says its installing product software/driver and after it installs i go to MY COMPUTER to see if it shows up like a normal external hd and it does not. Can someone point me in the right direction to get my comp to realize that it's there. The drive itself is not faulty and was working but i pulled it because it was the "world edition" by WD that used usb 2.0 to 2.0 and i lost the cable.

Hello and Welcome to Bleepingcomputer!
My first question is would you prefer to use the USB 2.0 cable if you knew you could most likely find another replacement?

Please take notice. Oreo and I will not be available until June of 2012.
Thank you for understanding my absence, it is job and college related, so all is good. If I do not answer your PMs this is the reason why. See you all soon!
