When I attempt to defragment my C drive, I get this message: "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: HP_Pavilion (C:). Please run Chkdsk/f
When I tried following these instructions, the same message just popped up again...

Hmmm...I suggest running chkdsk /r (space between k and /), rather than /f.
If there are any onscreen errors, please write them down and post such.
Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Type Y in new screen and hit Enter. Reboot the system, the chkdsk /r command will execute prior to booting into XP. Upon completion, the system will boot into XP.
You may have file system/hard drive problems...if so, running chkdsk /r may clarify the possibility.

Hi -
You can also use this code rather than typing the instructions (that are also correct) - Just copy and paste into Run box and hit enter -
I find it easier than typing a wrong letter if you are never quite sure -
Note that Hamluis has given the full and also correct answer -
Do you know how much free space is on C drive ??
Thank You -
