I tried loading my computer up, it worked fine earlier today, but now it gives me a "DISK BOOT ERROR, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" message after the boot screen.

I called HP, without even working out some steps they tried to sell me a new computer.

I will provide whatever information I can, willing to do a system restore if needed but trying to do one from the boot screen fails. Nothing happens and it goes to the same DISK BOOT ERROR as if i did nothing.

So if you have a solution that wont cost me hundreds, or can tell me how i make this thing do that system restore (I have no disks), it would be appreciated.

From what i've read, there is an issue with Seagate hard drives that causes them to possibly not work after powering down, which is what happened to me, and i am using a Seagate harddrive.

Do you have access to another computer where you can download a file and burn it to a CD to make a boot disk?

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 (or http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic28744.html)
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, unfortunately, you're out of luck, because Toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic tool.
