The display screen is cracked and of very little visual use on my daughter's laptop. I had an old 15" monitor working for the display, but somehow she changed the settings and now all of the operable/functional portions of the image are on the side of the screen that does not work (can't be seen). She said something about clicking a dialog box that said "share the screen". I have it started in Safe Mode and the monitor operates just fine (I can see about 10% of the laptop screen/ top left area) both screens appear to show the same thing. Does anyone know where to find the settings to get the screen to show up on the additional monitor in regular mode?

How old is this lap top?
My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

I bought it in June of 08 from New Egg.
So, restating the question: How do I adjust the display settings (to the auxillary monitor's screen) if I cannot see the original screen because it is broken???
Thanks

Trying again, I was able (by pushing hard with my thumb on the top of the frame of the laptop) to get the broken screen working about 50%. Then I was able to open Control Panel, slide (with the mouse) the screen over to the monitor and found the display settings under Mobile PC. Not as 'romantic' as doing it without being able to see, but much more effective.
Thanks all

I have done it, it's not hard. Hp has great repair manuals on their support site that show you how.

It doesn't look that hard to do... Aggrivation is She left her ear buds on the keyboard, I grabbed the laptop from the floor of her room (one handed) and heard the awful crunch...
I was glad I had an extra monitor. Guess I'll get a replacement screen, but I may wait until the end of summer.
Many thanks!
