On a normal use when the computer has been on for about an hour my CPU temperature usually stay in the 50-60 C

Is this too high or is it normal?

I have the Intel Core Dual T2450

I wouldn't consider that range excessive, but if you can lower it by cleaning the heatsink and fans regularly this would help make it last longer. An extra case fan is often a cheap way to lower temps as well.

There is a tutorial here to help you-

hi,,,, be aware of where the laptop is being used,,, like on your lap  ,,, or left on your bed etc,,, this will not allow the vents to exhaust out hot air and suck in new cool air,,,, hard flat surfaces are usually good, and also try a laptop cooler, these are quite cheep on flea bay,,,,
good luck.

Sorry I've been on vacation for the past two weeks. Anyways....from my experiences any laptop over two to three years old usually has to be taken apart
so that we can apply fresh thermal paste for the cpu and the gpu. This usually solve the overheating issue. However taking apart a laptop compared to a regular desktop
can be quite the job...If you're familiar with a good pc shop I would recommend bringing it to them. Let us know how you make out.
