What type of disk did you use?
Vista DVD, or some recovery DVD?

If it's the OS disk supplied with a brandname computer, then it is likely to be pre-registered, like the XP with my Compaq laptop. I can just re-install from the CD and go, it doesn't ask for a product key.
Pleased to have been a Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) 2007/8, 2008/9

I pressed F5, and I'm feeling refreshed...

Well, you'll probably still have to activate it.

Right-click Computer > Properties > Scroll to the bottom of the Window

If it looks like this, you're good to go:

But if it looks like this, you'll have to enter your product key (sometimes on the bottom/back of the computer or on the install disc packaging).

It may have already entered the product key (or it was built in). You simply had to activate it (over the internet).
