E-Set anti-virus causing BSOD on XP after Bitdefender and McAfee

Hi,

I think the latest versions of E-Set Anti-virus and Internet Security are giving BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) in Windows XP. I just updated and could not boot into my Windows XP laptop. I googled and found out that many other people reporting the same problem (today). There is no information on E-Set's web site. The support plays the same old record.

The BSOD shows error SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILURE
The error code shown is STOP (0x0000006f, 0,0,0)

I could boot into Safe mode in Windows XP and uninstalled Nod32 and it started to work again.

Please if you also have a similar problem then report here, so that BleepingComputer guys (HJT :thumbsup:

) can provide easy to follow instructions.

PS : After Bitdefender and McAfee, this is E-Set (if confirmed by many users) to cripple XP. Who is next?

Hah...I almost installed a trial version of ESET today to try it out for a while. Glad I didn't. :thumbsup:

But yeah, seems like the big-boys of the anti-virus world are having a lot of problems these days....

Hi i use eset smart security on laptop running win7 no problems but have a two user licence and over the next week i will be installing on to my desktop running windows xp sp3 i will report back on any problems or lack of them at a later date this month or sooner if i have problems.

Have been using eset for 11 days no bsods of any kind or issues only thing i noticed upon start of install was that it detected symantec software installed which i have norton ghost for backup but no issues when using that, perhaps some incompatabilities exist between some symantec software and eset.

Hi Guys,
You know, it's pretty hard to believe that a company as reputable As Eset would even think to play such pranks on their customers! Well, maybe it's not a prank, but it is certainly not of their character to let those things go unnoticed! I am currently using Eset NOD32 V.4.0 on my laptop, and I mean to upgrade my license. I have a desktop over here too, and it deserves the same protection my laptop gets. I love it! Haven't seen a BSOD yet, and though I'm on windows 7 Pro, I'll be on the lookout.
