So I have no idea what is up with my computer, but I have firefox and Internet explorer and currently only firefox is working, I can't attach files to emails, open the store in itunes, or download YIM, all of these things won't happen and include a message that either the problem must lie with my internet setting or a proxy. Obviously I can get to my internet with firefox though, I'm not sure what's going on but I need help!

Can you download things via Firefox?

Do you get any error messages?

Have you checked the proxy settings in IE?

Also, have you recently been infected with malware of any sort?

I was infected by a malware but I got rid of it, also I understand how to get to proxy settings, but how do I find out my address and port?

I wouldn't be so sure...

Please post a Posted Image in the Am I infected? What do I do? sub-forum with a description of your problem, the steps taken so far, and a link back to this topic (they will want to know why you suspect malware).

Please note: the Malware Response team are always overwhelmed, and it could take a few days to get your first reply. Just be patient and don't "bump" your topic by replying to it, as that will only further delay a response (MRT members are looking for topics with 0 replies...if you reply to your own first, it will appear that you are already receiving help and thus delay receiving actual help).

If you still have problems after being declared clean, they'll send you back here.

Good luck.

I sometimes wonder why it's so hard to get an answer to the questions one asks. Try this.

When you click the link it will show you not only your IP and port, but also it will show what OS and browser you are using.

EDIT: Are you getting an 80072 EFD error message?

Now that you have posted a topic here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic314516.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the topic you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your computer as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working topics posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new topic to work may assume another MRT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your topic will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic at least once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.

To avoid confusion, this topic may be closed.

Good luck.
