BleepingComputer.com: USB KVM with a Mac

I just bought a justcom JC-102CUA 2-port KVM to share the console for my PC with my powerbook. It turns out that the only way to toggle the KVM is to press scroll-lock twice. This works fine for switching between PCs or from the PC to the Mac, but when it's already switched to the Mac, nothing happens.

When switching, I can see the scroll lock light turn on and back off, but with the Mac, it seems impossible to turn the scroll-lock light on. It seems that the key is used for something else or not accepted on the Mac.

Is there a way to get the KVM to work with the Mac?

Tell me how you have it setup... is the primary keyboard an apple or a pc keyboard?

I think the problem lies in that the key mappings on a apple keyboard are different than ones in a PC keyboard, so the kvm may not be recognizing the scroll lock key.

I have a PC USB keyboard (a Logitech Internet Navigator), a Microsoft USB Mouse, and a Viewsonic monitor plugged into the KVM. Then the output cables from the KVM go to the two computers. Port A goes to the desktop PC, and port B goes to the Powerbook. It's the video connector and one USB plug for each computer because the KVM acts as a hub for the keyboard and mouse.

I think you're right about it being a keymapping issue; I've read that the Mac maps the scroll lock to the power key, but nothing happens when I press the scroll lock (when I press the power button on the power book, it brings up the shut down menu). I've also read about cryptic key combinations to press on the Mac like esc-s or ctrl-F14, but none of them seem to do anything either.

You are going to have to resedit I believe to accomplish this.

I downloaded ResEdit from the link on that site, so I have ResEdit 2.1.3.sea on my desktop. When I run it, it loads the OS 9 Classic Environment, but I can't see how to switch to it or access the application. Do I want to be running the OS 9 version.

The documentation link from the site you linked, doesn't work. I get redirected to apple's main documentation page, and I can't find a resedit doc. The tutorials I've been able to find aren't even close to what I need to do, but maybe it will be obvious once I can get the program to run

Will I have to reboot the computer?
