When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix logs. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hi,
My computer was down for a week with the stated error. It happened right after i activated AVG.
After sourcing for possible solution, it finally dawned on me to uninstall AVG via safe mode.
After which, my computer returned to normal in no time, or should i say instantly (:
I'm guessing it's some security issue/conflict between vista and avg since each time i ctr-alt-del previously a screen came up that said :
Login process has failed to create the security options dialog
Failure - Security Options.

If you face the same problem, try uninstalling any anti virus software first (plug out internet though)
Just glad my comp is alive!

Have you tried CTRL+SHIFT+ESC? I find that bypasses that screen completely.

I had the same issues with this virus. You can fix the "administrator has diabled this function" error when you try to run CNTL ALT DEL by editing your reg file. By running REGEDIT and changing your DWORD back to 0 - it changes it to a 1.

But I tryed everything to restore this machine and nothing worked until I ran Combofix. I was amazed how this little DOS program fixed things up. It go me back on line and enabled me to reinstall and Update my AVG Virus program. Ran that and found 3 Trogans (one of them was USERINIT) and got me back up and running.

This is a bad Virus! Forced my browser to a virus website, shut down cntl-alt-del and incapacitated my USB ports. It also ran an active background screen that keep flashing virus. I used the Combofix off line from my cd drive... it saved a ss.

Hi all,
I am having the same kind of problem except. On boot it takes me to the Welcome Screen, both users are there " Admin and the guest " Don't matter which one you try or what you put in, blank whatever. It tells you the " make sure it's spelled right bla bla bla.." then just stays right on the welcome logon screen. You get a glimps of the old wallpaper it was running when it first it trying to boot, not that that means anything just throwing that in.
MY QUESTION IS, how do I get anywhere to do anything if I can't get past here. Anything I try takes me right back to the logon. The first boot it let me into Safe mode so I started AVG and that's when I saw it saw this virus. It put a couple files into the vault and it rebooted itself. After that the welcome logon is as far as it'll let me.
I have no CD, it was loaded what an OEM copy of XP a year or two ago. This is on XP Pro.

Man I hope somebody can help this thing ALONG with XP is a trip wacko.gif
Thanks all !

I have/had the same problem and decided to run a program I have lots of trust in, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware....... Once again malwarebytes has come to my rescue. After downloading it to my flash drive from another computer I installled and ran it on the infected computer. About 30 minutes later it found about 70 items and after removing them I was once again able to restart my computer and log on to windows. thumbup2.gif After that I installed Avast and did a boot time scan where it found a few other variants. I hope this will help someone.

CQ...
