Hi

This sounds to me like a virus/trojan. I would suggest doing some scans and maybe post a HJT log for an expert to have a look at.

Checked the virus and adware/spyware stuff - all came up blank.

What is HJT?

HijackThis! is the most powerful spyware removal tool in popular use. Get it Here

Once downloaded, extract the file to it's own folder on your hard drive (NOT a temporary folder). Then run the program and save a log file with everything.

Then go to this location
here and post the log for some help from some of the experts that peruse that forum.

I can't paste it - is there anyway I can attach it?

Go to Trendmicro and run an online virus scan and see if that solves your problem.
