Download/install BlueScreenView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html.
Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items. Save the report as BSOD.txt. Before you save the file, you may want to sort the listed data by date (double-click on that column), so that the most recent is first or last.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content and paste it into your next reply.

If it's a RAM problem as suggested by cryptodan, I understand my Dell Inspiron 1720 has two sticks. Should I do some kind of test, or should I go ahead and replace both of them?
Thanks for the help

***** A. If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting computer with one RAM stick at a time.
NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A
B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...
1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)
2. Unzip downloaded memtest86+-....iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find memtest86+-....iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:

8. Locate memtest86+-....iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:

10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run.
The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:

It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.
This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The following image is the test results area:

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

Before i get my old hands into the guts of this machine, I just wanted to give an additional piece of info that I have been experiencing about the same time of the BSOD's, or probably a few weeks before. My Firefox browser keeps shutting down several times a day, and when I restart it, it can not display the closed pages automatically, I keep opened about 8 or 9 all the time. I have to click on the apology note from Firefox to recover my closed pages.
I don't know if this is related to the RAM possibility, but I'm a little hesitant to work with the RAM sticks myself. I'll do it as a last resource, although PC technicians are not as expensive down here in Mexico as they are in the US (probably not as good either).
Sorry to keep bothering you, excellent experts and helpers.

You don't need any tech to perform steps listed by Ninja. You can easily do it by yourself.
However, your Firefox problems and the above BSODs may as well be signs of some infection.
To take it easy, you may want to start new topic at "Am I Infected?" forum and make sure, your computer is clean.
That would eliminate one possible culprit.

I'm not sure if that was the culprit of my problems with BSODs and Firefox suddenly closing, but since I have not received a reply on the other forum "Am I infected?", I wanted to post this on the present forum.
Thanks to all, and if the problem reappears, I will be bothering you again looking for your valuable help.

About Ninja's suggestion. Are the DIMMs on my Dell the RAM's he mentions?
When removing one and start my computer, should I just wait, or run the memtest?... and do the same thing when I interchange them?
If an error shows (if I run memtest) in one or the two of them, should I need to buy the replacements?.
In another problem, probably related, I tried to uninstall a Palm application on safe mode, I have been unable to shync it, a Zire22, there was a note from Windows saying that the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed and that this can ocurr if WI is not correctly installed. I looked up into my C drive and there are a couple of applications related to WI that can be executed. Should I do it?
Sorry for the bother again and thanks for the help you could provide me.
