I'm using Outlook Express 6.0, 98 SE and for the last two weeks all my email is coming in as attachments even though there are no attachments. Any ideas about what is happening?
Thanks..

OE sees an attachment where none exists (the BEGIN bug) Fixed
This occurs if your message contains a line beginning with the word "begin" followed by 2 blank spaces. That word is used to indicate the beginning of a real attachment, and OE mistakenly tries to create an attachment from the rest of your message. It is fixed for OE on WindowsXP with Service Pack 2 by installing Update for Windows XP (KB900930). If you receive a message with such a bogus attachment, you can read the message by pressing Ctrl-F3 to view the source. Thanks to Hans-Georg Michna MVP for bringing this one to my attention
Here is the OE site where i got this. Just about everything you ever want to know about OE is here.

Windows XP (KB900930). This is a link you can click on at the site.

I also have the same problem as you. However I am running ME. Attachments icon is mostly showing up on my primary address but seems to be increasing on my secondary address.
My OE is version 6.00.2800.1123.
Grinler has just finished helping me debug the "about:blank" malware and other issues. I have asked if Grinler knows anything about this issue. If there's a fix I'll let you know.

Download & Save to a Folder then turn off Virus Protection & Firewall before installing.

Go to Windows Update and make sure you have all the OE updates installed.

Consensus at AVG is that Microsoft hasn't upgraded to industry standards and that is what causes this problem. So.....no more paperclips but it still checks for viruses.
Thanks to all of you for your input.
