After reboot xp pro takes up to an hour to finally recognize my sata drive. Fortunately, my os is on another drive (ide) so I am able to boot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks esmo

Drive recognition problems...are usually indicative of either connection or drive/file system problems.
I'd take a look in Event Viewer for any errors that specify any drive, as a start. They usually stand out (at least, mine do
) because the source will probably be "disk" on the System tab. You can sort the column by clicking on it and easily see any items thusly reported.

If you have any...double-click on the individual line item for the most recent and post the detail.

First place I would check would be the sata cables, and if that checks out okay. I would like your BIOS settings for the SATA Controller in question, and if that checks out. I would then look at replacing the drive as the on board hardware and firmware of the drive maybe dead.
