super pi a program to calculate pi

i'll start it off
Dell Inspiron 5100 P4 2.6G
512 MB of ram
40G HD 5400rpm

3 min 24 sec

1 min and 38 sec for PI up to the 2millionth digit.

My computer specs:
1GB of RAM
AMD 64 San Deigo 2.2GHz 3700+ processor
SATA WD 250Gb HDD (not sure about the rpm)

37min and 04 secs for it to calculate up to the 32millionth digit of pi.

Am I a geek or what? :thumbsup: :flowers:

37 min? i havent tried to 32 million. but according to the text file that came in that zip

"In order to calculate 33.55 million
digits, it takes within 3 days with Pentium 90MHz, 40MB main memory and
340MB available storage."

how long ago was that kind of specs common?

Well the program was made in 1995, that explaines why it say that.

My computer specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.67Ghz
8GB 1066MHz RAM
2.2TB HDD Raid 0

My rig took 19 minutes and 33 seconds to calculate pi to 32 million..... What the hell! Why did it take so long? :thumbsup:

I closed Internet Explorer and also closed Dreamweaver and ran the test again got a little better but still not the greatest

it took my amd Turion 1.8 ghz (socket 754) with 768 meg of ddr 333 mhz ram 2 minutes and 16 seconds to compute to 2 million, will try my desktop tomorrow to see how my athlon 64 x2 6000+ performs with it.

It took 40 seconds on a computer in the engineering lab at my university, to calculate 2 million digits.

1s for 64k Digits
3s for 128k Digits
8s for 256k Digits
20s for 512k Digits
46s for 1m Digits
1min 48s for 2m Digits
3m 52s for 4m Digits
8m 25s for 8m Digits
18m 51s for 16m Digits
40m 56s for 32m Digits

Not bad for my Laptop, Couldn't be bothered to put a screenshot on and couldn't be bothered to do 16m and 32m Digits but you get the idea.

Although I do wonder whether running on XP will make a difference because Yano's computer on the posts in 2005 preformed a bit better than my laptop now, even though it had 2GB less RAM and the Processor was Single Core I think.

I assume this program is more Processor Calculation Orientated?
And most likely only used One Of My Processor Cores?

Basic Spec Of My Laptop
AMD Turion X2 RM-72 @ 2.1GHZ
3GB RAM @ 667MHZ
Fujitsu HDD 250GB RPM 5400
Vista Home Premium

I've decided I'll come back later with 16m and 32m figures just to see what springs up.

my athlon x2 6000+ in my desktop with 2 gigs of ddr2 did 2m in 1 minute 7 seconds, and 32 million in 26 minutes and some odd seconds.
