BleepingComputer.com: Connecting Computer to Audio Receiver Problem

I am trying to connect my PC to my Home Theater System (Receiver). I purchased a "Y" cord and plugged one RCA jack (black) to the computer. I plugged the red and white RCA jack to the audio receiver. I have 5 speakers hooked up to the receiver; however sound is only coming out of one speaker clearly. I can hear sound out of the other four but it is extremely faint. When I switch the red/white around the sound comes out of a different (left) speaker; however the right one goes faint. Any idea as to how to get all five working?

Your problem is your using a mono jack to connect to a stereo system, this is why you are getting only one channel to work, what you need is a 3 conducter 3.5 mm stereo plug on one end and the two female RCA jacks on the other.

The male 3.5 mm connector goes to your sound cards stereo output jack, the two male RCA jacks goes to your suround sound systems AUX input jack.
