Hi folks,
I recently reinstalled Win XP SP2 due to a hard drive problem. Since the reinstall I've had audio problems when playing an AVI file. The actual sound is barely audible, and there is a loud random popping sound.
I've downloaded the XP audio and video codecs and reinstalled them - no help. I don't have a problem with 3GP video files or MP3 files or YouTube files and the video looks fine on the problem files.
When I use Ulead Movie Factory and burn the files to a DVD they play fine on my TV DVD player so it's just a problem with sound on the PC. Any tips would be appreciated.

You should see if you have the current audio driver installed.

If it's all types of sound, regardless of source...I would look at drivers.
If it's sound with a particular type of file...I would look at codecs installed. I would download/install something like the K-Lite codec pack.
