hello,
My laptop running Windows XP Home Edition started popping up a "Found
New Hardware Wizard" window each time I boot Windows XP.However, I did not plug any new hardware into.
My wireless is not working anymore and I can't connect to the internet.

Acer Travelmate,XP Home Edition,2GB RAM,120GB HDD.

thanks

Try going into the BIOS and loading the optimal settings.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

There should be a setting indicating something like "defaults" as a settings change.

These settings are designed to provide best chance of the system booting.

If new hardware exists...it would be reflected in Device Manager...so I'd take a look.

That reader is standard on Acer Travelmate laptops.

Since it's a laptop and already inventoried by the system and by XP...it will appear in Device Manager, whether you install drivers/use it or not.

To eliminate the New Hardware notification...you could install the drivers for it.

Going back to your original graphic posted...worth reading, IMO: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-2543977.php

Back to your BIOS screens posted...the screen reflecting "Load Setup Defaults" is what we have referred to as the way to reset defaults.

My guess would be that you need to install drivers...for your networking device. Such should be on the CD which came with the system.
