microsoft update will not download ! criticial update KB980182

Microsoft update will not download the newly released update KB9801982 ? It will download and install updates to microsoft essentials free anti-virus . I've tried turning off the Windows Firewall and the Anti-Virus application Microsoft Essentials . Iam running WindowsXP Pro MCE2005 SP3 I.E. ver8.0 in a 2.8GHz Dual Core pentium D 3 GB's of DDR2 ram ! What would possibly be stopping this update from downloading ? I looked in event viewer and it list no errors for microsoft update ? Is this security update really important ,it list it as criticial to moderate depending on what resource you are viewing in referance to this 10MB download ! Anyone with ideas on how I can get this update to download and install or should I hide it and forget it ?

You can manually download and install this update from here :
http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/2...182-x86-ENU.exe

I assume you have Windows XP 32 bit as SP3 was only released for 32bit. The above link is for 32 bit XP.

Thanks for the link Romeo29, I downloaded the security patch and installed it and so far all is working well ! I created a restore point not knowing while installing the update it would also create one for me ! I just wanted to let you know your help is greatly appreciated ,it would have drove me nuts not being able to install a criticial update this big. Now my system is secure,I have the BEl-ARC Advisor and it shows all your updates and confirms if they are installed correctly ,according to that app the KB980182 is verified as installed !
