I have a custom built desktop. It is Windows XP Professional SP3, Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHZ, 2GB DDR-400. My computer is pretty slow, it takes time to do stuff such as trying to choose a file to burn etc. I usually have to give it 1 minute or more so it can load. I have tried to do a full scan using DrWeb but after a minute of scanning it just randomly freezes, which i have to restart it. So i can't find out if there are other viruses on it. I've tried using sfc /scannow but it keeps saying to insert the XP disc which i did. Other people had told to copy the I386 folder to C: drive and change the registry to run from there but that didn't work. Can someone please help me, this may have a lot issues?

Does your XP CD include SP3?

Have you tried Windows System Restore?

Have you tried running online scans for malware?

Have you tried updating for critical updates?

Does your email client work?

Can you access the main Microsoft website?

Have you tried to run chkdsk, following the instructions at para 1 under Starting Check Disk at CHKDSK Utility - http://www.hard-drive-help.com/chkdsk.html ?

Have you tried to defrag your system partition?

How much free space on C:?

How much total space on C:?
