Help
Have been reading the BleepingComputer tutorial about the 'Hosts' file. But whenever i try to get into the 'Hosts' file i get a message stating not known or something similar?
I am running Windows Vista and i click on the Start tab and then in the 'Search' box i type c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and then i get the message not known?

Why is it that you want to get to your hosts file?
My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Open Windows Explorer, navigate to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and you'll see "hosts" file.

Hi cryptodan, I am thinking of adding a Host Block List for undesirable web sites and i want to learn all i can about the HOSTS file so as to avoid making any mistakes.

Have a read there, and also download Spy Bot Search and Destroy and use the Immunization tool.
