BleepingComputer.com: trouble installing TV card

So I'm trying to install a Winfast TV 2000 XP deluxe tv card. I tried DLing the drivers online from their website but when I run the exe it gives me the error "this device does not support" I also tried using the CD it came with that gives an error "could not install driver under NT base"

Also when I look under the device manager it doesn't show any PCIe devices.

I had the tv card working on my old system.

I the built the box, it's got an ABIT IP35, C2D e6320, 8800GT

It's not a PCI-e card, from what I see...I hope you put it in a PCI slot. I'm trying to understand your reference to PCI-e devices, PCI-e version cards came later than when this card was developed.

I'm sorry, I meant PCI. The I get no message from windows that there's new hardware detected and I can't find it anywhere in the device manager. Where would it be and what would it be called?

That might help because the way they say to install it online is to use that new hardware detected message and then point the windows installation wizard to the the drivers.

Anyone? Do you think if I just got a new capture card with S-video that that would work?

I would go to device manager and scan for new hardware to see if it gets detected. If that doesn't work try the card in a different PCI slot if you have one available

In Device Manager...it should appear as (probably) two items, if you have 2 tuners.

If not properly installed, may say "unknown device" with yellow question mark.

After being properly installed, will fall under Sound, Video, Game Controllers.

I would suggest...not using downloaded drivers, if you have the disc which came with the card. I find that newer drivers are made for newer cards, not older. When I had ATI All-in-Ones, the newer drivers (one size fits all)...well, it didn't work out that way for many users.

If you don't have the CD...go to the WinFast site, http://www.leadtek.com/eng/tv_tuner/downlo...eid=6&act=3, and follow their instructions explicitly.

One of the problems I had with ATI cards...was removing failed installs. If it doesn't work the first time, uninstall everything related, including registry files for WinFast...before starting over. I say this because my experience is that a failed install...produces more failed installs unless the debris is removed.

Well...you need to establish that the card works, IMO.

That means that you need to attempt to install it in a different system...won't take long. It's either detected or defective.

Well it worked in my old system so it's still probably working. Also I installed a capture card that worked too and it doesn't get detected either.
