I have three computers. One is my own another is my parents. We have had those two for a while on this connection. But the third is a friends. There was a problem with it so we replaced his hard drive with one of my old hard drives that works. After we did that we did a full restore on it to make it just as new. After all off the starting updates and downloads we started it up. Everything was working just fine except it would not connect to the internet. I tried different ports in the router and I also tried to reset the WINSOCK entries to installation defaults using the command: netsh winsock reset catalog and the TCP/IP stack to installation defaults using the command: netsh int ip reset reset.log. I also noticed in the network settings in the control panel that there is a connection that says it is connected but it is somewhat greyed out. I try to look at the properties but everything was blank. Another wierd thigs is that when I tried to do ipconfig in the cmd all it said was "Windows IP Configuration" and that was all. If anyone could help me out that would be great!

What version of windows?

And it was working I assume since you mentioned updating it and stuff. So after one of the updates it stopped?

You could try removing the card in Device Manager. Reboot and let it install again.
Hope this helps Posted Image

Thanks for the reply! It is Windows XP. The updating I was talking about was the restoration process. I tried removing the card from device manager and rebooting to let it install but it did not work.
