BleepingComputer.com: Connectivity problem with Router

So I'm at my cousins out of town who recently purchased a new Netgear router. Since he hasent been able to get it to work I figured I'd take a look. Since this router only has one Ethernet port you have to plug it into the comp to set it up, then into the modem. Well I did all that and can connect with my itouch but can't with either laptop. Both laptops pick up the signal but refuse to open up a page once connected. However I'm typing this from my itouch so it kinda works. I'm use to routers that u connect to the pc and modem so I may be missing something obvious, any ideas?

What is the make and model of the router?

Its a Netgear WN802T.

Ah ok its an Access point not a router. All this does is provide a wireless signal. I should have asked if they have cable or DSL and the make and model of the modem? If cable, what is the ISP?

If they have cable more than likely they will need to return this and get a router.

If they have DSL, they might already have a router and this will work for what they want.

Ahh thanks man I appreciate your input. So what exactly are Access points for? Making a non wireless device wireless? After not getting it to work and spending a couple hours troubleshooting I had him take it back. He originally paid $160 for the Access point, so after taking it back and picking up a $40 Netgear router it was well jusitfied. Had everything hooked up and rolling in 15 minutes after getting home. You almost got it, its not making a non-wireless device wireless, it adds a wireless signal where there wasn't one before. Glad we could help in figuring it out =)
