Hello

I have a Gateway laptop running Vista, recently it just stopped seeing my wireless network. When I try to connect my network will not show up and it will not let me add a wireless connection. It will connect when I plug in a hardwire connection.
Then a day later it would not connect even when hardwired, when I checked the device manager the network adapter was gone. The only way I could get it back was to do a system restore. The other problem is that after som time when I return to using the laptop after it is shut down the adapter is gone again. The system restore brings it back each time.

Check your system logs and see if there is any clue there as to what is going on. Disappearing network adapters usually leave a pretty good trail. You may also want to check Gateway's website and see if they have any software updates for your machine.
